Chrome OS 124 adds a Quality of Service (QoS) feature that prioritizes video conferencing and gaming apps on clogged Wi-Fi networks. The new feature should provide smoother video and gameplay with less buffering and stuttering. Next up are new custom cursor sizes for the mouse.

Some fun additions. A few things that did make it into Chrome OS 124, however, are the updated Settings app, a return of the new Material You Chrome design, a tidied-up Virtual Desks button, and the arrival of a tiny feature I've been waiting on for quite some time.

Google is rolling out the latest Chrome OS update, version 124 to Chromebooks. The update comes with new features like faster split screen setup, a new Quality of Service (QoS) for improved Wifi prioritization and Fast Pair feature for mice. The Chrome OS 124 also enables users to adjust the cursor size, a helpful feature for people with low vision.

How to download the Chrome OS 124 update :-

To update your Chromebook to the latest version of Chrome OS Steps,

  • Head to Settings
  • Select ‘About Chrome OS’ on the bottom left
  • Under "Google Chrome OS," you will see the version of the Chrome operating system running on your Chromebook
  • Select Check for updates
  • If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically
Chrome OS 124: All features :-

Chrome OS 124 brings Faster Split Screen Setup feature that offers you a faster way to set up your window layout by showing an overview of your open windows on the other side of the screen. With the new feature, Chromebook users can lock a window in place on one side of the screen. One can also choose an already-open window from Overview to snap into the other side.

Another notable feature coming with Chrome OS 124 is Quality of Service (QoS) that ensures better traffic prioritization of video conferencing and gaming applications on congested Wifi networks. The feature is designed to offer a smoother video play experience to the users with minimal buffering. In this initial release, this feature is not available for managed users.

In addition, Chrome OS 124 brings the fast pair feature for mice. Users can simply bring a Fast Pair-compatible mouse close to their Chrome OS device. They will be prompted to pair it with one click. The update also brings the ability to adjust cursor size. The feature will be helpful for people who have low vision, for teachers who want students to follow along during a lesson while presenting, for people who are presenting on a video call.
